Job description
My clients who are a leading technical manufacturing business are currently recruiting for a Supplier Development Manager based in Bolton to join on a permanent basis.
Role - Supplier Development Manager
Location - Bolton
Type - Permanent position
Salary - £45,000-£55,000 + benefits
Key responsibilities of the Supplier Development Manager role and not be limited to:
- Responsible for overall supplier performance, capability and risk assessment
- Influence the evolution of the company's industrial and business environment
- Improve internal working practices to drive efficiency and effectiveness
- Be a member of a dedication team of supply chain managers handling supplier performance in terms of delivery and quality
- The position will involve working and travelling nationally, potentially internationally, with fellow procurement professionals, with internal collaborators (internal customers, procurement colleagues, technical and quality authorities,) and with key suppliers
- Well-resourced training and development programmes in Procurement and Quality knowledge
Key skills and experience required for Supplier Development Manager role and not limited to:
- Ideally a degree calibre Supply Chain professional with experience of international working in high technology companies.
- Experience of supply chain management in the Aerospace, Automotive, Defence or Manufacturing environments is desirable
- Proven ability to improve Supplier Performance (Delivery and Quality) using appropriate tools and lean methodologies
- Handling a portfolio of suppliers on a day to day basis and reporting into designated project the performance and supply chain risk
- Assess supply chain and suppliers capability to meet business delivery profile for both current state vs Future state
- Proficient in creating/ validating process flows, lead time analysis, understanding capacity bottlenecks, yield, resources and sub-tier mapping activities to form an industrial view of supplier
- Hold excellent problem-solving skills and understanding of techniques such as DMAIC (Define, Measure, Analyse, Improve, Control) to develop and implement root cause analysis and improvement plans within Supply Chain
- Identify, Advance and mitigate potential Supply Chain Risks and put in place associated improvement and mitigation plans. Handle risks to closure
- Conducting analysis and providing/delivering executive summaries
- Internal and external assessment skills/knowledge; Business maturity, planning & control, relationship management, manufacturing excellence etc…
