Job description
Our client, a renowned entity within the Defence & Security sector, is currently seeking a highly organised Material Controller specialising in Material Management to join their team in Barrow. This role is within the Submarines business unit and is fully on-site. This is a six-month contract position with the potential for extension, originally intended for maternity cover. Security clearance at SC level is required.
Key Responsibilities:
- Planning manufacturing schedules efficiently
- Overseeing material movement from suppliers to ensure timely delivery
- Generating and analysing reports to enhance operational performance
- Liaising effectively with suppliers to manage materials
- Chasing materials to ensure compliance with production timelines
- Coordinating logistics operations
- Troubleshooting and resolving issues promptly to maintain workflow continuity
- Performing problem-solving tasks that arise during production and material handling
Job Requirements:
- Experience in stores, materials, and stock control
- Proficiency as a Materials Controller & Planner
- Strong understanding of materials management within the defence industry
- Excellent organisational and scheduling skills
- Solid communication and liaison abilities, particularly with suppliers and logistics teams
- Problem-solving aptitude to address and mitigate production challenges
