My client is looking for a Senior Sub-Contract buyer.
Job description
My client has won some new projects, this business-critical role will work closely with the operational teams to support the delivery of kitchen and bathroom refurbishment projects.
The successful candidate needs excellent negotiation, planning and communication skills to be able to effectively on-board sub-contractors for existing and upcoming projects.
In this role, you must be able to manage tight deadlines and fluctuating work volumes, with the ability to keep calm under pressure. As Sub-contract Buyer you will be based at the Hemel Hempstead office and you will regularly travel to my clients sites to audit the on-going sub-contractor works. Having great commercial understanding and plenty of existing sub-contractor contacts, you will be ready to hit the ground running.
Objectives:
- Negotiate and secure sub-contract services for all required projects on time and to specification, for the best possible value, whilst maintaining the necessary standards and quality required to ensure company targets and objectives are met
- Design, implement and embed a sub-contract buying plan, containing sub-contractors information details, trade, quotes and other relevant information
- Make sure that a consistent approach to sub-contract buying is adopted across all projects, irrespective of division or work stream
- Support the tendering process by making pricing recommendations based on subcontractor procurement
- Attend mobilisation meetings to ensure that sub-contractor procurement is carried out in line with projects contractual requirements
- Produce sub-contractor procurement programme and ensure this is adhered to
- Support the commercial teams in value engineering specific projects
Experience:
- Experience of supply chain/sub-contract procurement in the UK, social housing construction sector
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills
- Proactive, with the ability to deal with issues in a calm and professional manner
- Sound judgement and decision-making skills
- Flexibility regarding travel and working at various projects
- UK driving licence

Salary: £50,000-£70,000 depending on experience
Travel to Hemel Hempstead and site visits in London.
