Job description

A leading manufacturing engineering business require an Engineering Buyer. Applicants need procurement experience within a technical procurement role, and have worked as a Buyer, Senior Buyer or NPI Buyer responsible for operational and strategic tasks

The Engineering Buyer will join a team of Buyers and Senior Buyers reporting to a Procurement Manager. The Engineering Buyer will be responsible for the procurement of metallic raw materials, machined components and subcontract manufacturing services. The role will involve close liaison with engineering colleagues, and working with technical drawings.

Specific duties of the Engineering Buyer include:

• Purchasing of materials, services and components in-line with MRP requirements
• Manage suppliers against operational OTD/OTIF metrics
• Negotiation with new and existing supply chain partners
• Strategic management and selection of the supplier base
• Liaison with engineering colleagues in regards to NCR and supplier quality issues

Engineering Buyer should meet the following criteria:

• Procurement experience as a Buyer or Senior Buyer within a manufacturing or engineering business
• Negotiation and vendor management skills
• Technical appreciation of supplier capabilities
• Ability to read technical/engineering drawings
• MRP/ERP literacy
