Introduction

The Supplier Development Engineer will be responsible to support supply chain improvement activities across numerous projects overseeing the quality of purchased parts from supplier and designated projects.

Proven experience within as a Supplier Development Engineer or similiar supplier driven role.

The Job

The Supplier Development Engineer will be responsible to support supply chain improvement activities across numerous projects overseeing the quality of purchased parts from supplier and designated projects.

Experience of NPI and/or Supplier Quality Assurance or a similar role where skills can be transferred into the Supply Chain. Automotive, Aerospace or other technical industry background is preferred and not essential.

Salary - £35,000 - £48,000

Location - Leamington Spa, Warwickshire

Key responsibilities for Supplier Development Engineer role and not limited to:

  • Driving and monitoring performance with suppliers
  • Identify and delivering cost saving initiatives based on improved productivity and processes within the Supply Chain
  • Management of supplier quality performance
  • Support and deliver outsourcing activities from in-house manufacturing to an external supply chain
  • Supplier identification and approval working in conjunction with Procurement
  • Supplier quality assurance activities within the supply chain - APQP, PPAP, IMDS and Supplier assessment audits
  • Working closely with procurement, design and system engineers to ensure parts are designed for manufacture and commercially optimised
  • Problem resolution of parts quality issues working with suppliers

Key skills and experience required for Supplier Development Engineer role and not limited to:

  • Knowledge of automotive technology and product development
  • Excellent problem solving skills
  • Quality systems, quality tools & techniques
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to present effectively with suppliers and clients at all levels
  • Knowledge of IATF 16949 - Preferred, however not essential
