Global manufacturing engineering business require a Services Buyer. Applicants need material, services or subcontracts procurement experience, stakeholder management skills and be comfortable within a project-led manufacturing or engineering services business.
The Services Buyer will be responsible for acting as a procurement representative on engineering and construction related projects. The procurement associated with the role is predominately indirect or support service in nature - fleet, vehicle leasing, groundworks, construction, installation contractors, consultants or technical facilities management. Previous exposure to these areas would not be required in the role.
Specific duties of the Services Buyer include:
- Management of a c£20m spend across project requirements for technical construction and engineering services
- Develop and foster rapport with Project Managers - you could be supporting 6-8 projects simultaneously
- Negotiation and award of contracts to suppliers to reflect project saving targets
- Manage commercial and contractual relationships with suppliers - are KPIs, SLAs etc. being met
- Support procurement department management to improve processes, systems and technology
Services Buyer applicants should meet the following criteria:
- Procurement experience, as a Buyer, Senior Buyer, Category Buyer or Indirect Buyer, Subcontract Buyer
- Previous experience within manufacturing, engineering, construction or indirect procurement - advantageous
- Ability to negotiate and manage suppliers and subcontractors
- Strong relationship building skills
- Ability to use procurement technology - MRP/ERP etc.
