About the job
This is a crucial role within the Corporate and Capital Accounting Service, ensuring compliance with capital budget reporting requirements, including year-end financial reporting. The post-holder will engage directly with internal teams to support statutory and compliance obligations related to capital budgeting. The role involves liaising with key stakeholders, including capital budget holders, the Corporate Working closely with the Functional Lead, the post-holder will continuously monitor and improve financial reporting processes, ensuring a high-quality service that drives efficiency and performance improvements.
Responsible For:
- Leading financial support for aspects of the capital budget, particularly in complex areas, engaging with budget holders, and resolving issues within established guidelines.
- Playing a key role in year-end capital budget and accounting procedures, ensuring deadlines are met through effective team collaboration.
- Providing financial advice and technical accounting guidance on capital expenditure.
- Developing and revising policies and procedures as necessary.
- Strengthening relationships and partnerships across finance and other directorates.
- Supporting service development by identifying and implementing new approaches to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
- Contributing to resource management within the capital team.
Key Experience:
- Be a fully qualified accountant with current membership of one of the five CCAB bodies (ICAEW, ACCA, CIPFA, ICAS or Chartered Accountants Ireland) (ICAI) or CIMA or equivalent
- Public Sector background
- Demonstrate managerial experience
- Redemption asset management (RAM) experience
