Introduction

We are looking for an experienced Senior Commercial Manager to manage a £1Bn + contract for Naval base services at HMNB Devonport, Plymouth; the largest Naval base in Europe.

Experience of managing Sourcing and/or Contract Management activities on a large scale on more complex or high-risk projects and programmes.

Reponsibilities
In this role, you will be responsible for but not limited to:

  • Managing a key complex single source contract with a requirement to influence and manage Senior internal and external Stakeholders.
  • Leading, negotiation, development and delivery of complex Taskings.
  • Negotiating terms and pricing, placing and subsequently managing contracts and contract amendments up to a maximum delegation of £100M in accordance with the Ministry of Defence policy.
  • Conducting assurance and due diligence of Commercial activity within own area of responsibility by adhering to Commercial policy. Participating in Peer Reviews across the business as required.
  • Lead contractor performance management assessments to enable effective delivery of the requirement.
  • Leading a team of around 4 commercial practitioners, overseeing and supervising delivery of the team's commercial outputs and responsibility for providing coaching, mentoring and development.
  • Communicating in a timely manner with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders including Senior Leadership, suppliers and Subject Matter Experts.Advising senior team on acquisition strategies for procurements in accordance with public procurement regulations and Government policy. Requirement to determine and enact strategies within own delegation limits.


What you will be assessed against
To be successful with your application you must demonstrate that you meet the following essential criteria:

  • Experience of managing Sourcing and/or Contract Management activities on a large scale on more complex or high-risk projects and programmes.
  • Experience influencing and advising multilevel Stakeholders and Senior Leadership

If not already held, if successful you will be supported to undertake the following:

  • CIPS Level 6/Chartered Status or Equivalent, or a willingness to work towards this by commencing study within one year of appointment. This will be funded and supported by DE&S / SDA.
  • At the appropriate point in your development, attend expert Level Assessment & Development Centre (Commercial Lead) to demonstrate Government
