My client have an exciting opportunity for somebody to join their commercial team on a permanent basis.
The commercial officer is responsible for assisting in the day-to-day management of the Commercial/Contract group and for providing guidance for overall customer contract actions and internal administration. The position reports directly to the Contracts & Commercial Manager for the UK facility and includes accountability for commercial aspects, data fact-finding, audit, negotiations, and export control compliance. Customers include UK and Foreign Government Agencies, Prime Contractors and 2nd tier sub-contractors
Location - Near Brighton
Salary - Up to £37k plus benefits
Roles and responsibilities for the commercial officer -
Preparation and submission of commercial proposals and quotations including payment arrangements and commercial response and obtaining internal approvals as appropriate in accordance with the companies procedures.
Assist the Contracts & Commercial Manager with securing follow on business and the achievement of company order intake, sales, operating income and cash flow targets.
Negotiation of Contractual terms & conditions including pricing.
Analyse, prepare and negotiate contractual agreements
Work with the Commercial Supervisor to ensure the drafting and submission of export licence applications is in accordance with both UK and US regulations.
Preparation of and issuing of import and export Customs declaration of freight agents in accordance with the import and export approvals to ensure compliance with customs duty & VAT control requirements and UK and US licensing requirements.
Preparation of export documentation for freight deliveries and hand carry of equipment outside the UK.
Management of trade compliance requirements for visitors and employee's foreign travel.
Provide independent technical assessment of documents planned for release outside of the business to ascertain compliance with applicable export authorities and related limitations/ provisos.
The ideal candidate for the role will have -
Must have at least 3-5 years' experience in negotiating, drafting, and administering complex contracts,
Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills necessary for working in a team environment.
Analytical and methodical
Good communication skills
Attention to detail
IT proficient - Proficient in MS Word, Power Point, Excel
Good standard of written and spoken English
Experience of Microsoft suite of office programmes
Knowledge of export and shipping procedures
Experience of international trade
Experience in defence markets
