The Job

A leading international defence and security systems manufacturer is currently recruiting for Contracts Manager to join their very successful and expanding business on a permanent basis.

The Contracts Manager will be responsible for managing UK Defence contracts and the team to ensure the commercial, compliance and contractual interest and obligations of the business are met.

Applicants must be eligible to gain UK SC clearance.

Role - Contracts Manager - Defence

Location - Kingston upon Thames, Surrey

Type - Permanent

Salary - £45,000 - £55,000 + benefits

The key roles and responsibilities of the Contracts Manager role and not be limited to:

  • Management of the UK Defence Contracts team
  • Management of the commercial, compliance and contractual positions / obligations within the UK Defence Market
  • Contract review and approval of proposals and contract awards and variations in accordance with corporate procedures and arrangement of Division and Sector reviews as appropriate
  • Conduct Risk Assessments for strategic UK Defence opportunities and business development efforts
  • Support and lead the Business Development and Programme Management functions with contract negotiation
  • Support Supply Chain Management function with contract flow-down and negotiation
  • Review and manage all programme UK Defence Contract terms, provide guidance to the wider UK Defence team and oversee, negotiate and implement programme change requests.
  • Involvement in proposal preparation activities - T&C's, pricing structure & payment terms for bids/proposals.
  • Review and revision of departmental procedures and review and comment on related departmental procedures.

Key skills and experience required for Contracts Manager role and not limited to:

  • Proven experience within a Commercial and/or Contract orientated role
  • Strong working knowledge of contracts and standard contracting terms for supply of goods and services
  • Ability to draft commercial contracts, agreements, terms & conditions and to negotiate such for the benefit of the company
  • Eligible to gain UK MOD SC Clearance
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and spoken
