An international prestigious manufacturing and engineering business seek to recruit a Warehouse Operations Manager to join their very successful and expanding business on a permanent basis.


Proven experience as a Warehouse Operations Manager within a process driven GMP environment.

The Job

The Warehouse Operations Manager will be responsible for implementing world-class warehouse processes, identifying opportunities to improve efficient and minimise waste.

This is a hands-on role that involves running several different sites including goods in and warehouse operations, the Warehouse Manager will be responsible for a large team of C.20.

Salary - £40,000 - £50,000 (DOE) + Benefits

The key roles and responsibilities of the Warehouse Operations Manager role and not be limited to:

  • The Warehousing Manager has ownership for all receipted inventories and associated transactions, the storage of inventories on site and those held at third party storage locations
  • Driving the warehousing and stores functions to ensure that all inventories raw components and finished materials are accounted for and managed at the highest level of quality and accuracy
  • Manage a multi-site team, optimizing headcount and skill base ensuring the continuous on time supply of materials to production lines and that finished goods shipping dates to the distribution centres and branches are met
  • To manage in accordance with Company policy all aspects of warehousing and stores functions throughout the Sudbury sites ensuring that these activities meet the company's operational and business objectives in a timely & professional manner
  • The Warehousing Manager has full ownership of material supplies to support production cell output as well as finished goods shipments to the distribution centres and branches
  • You are responsible for proactively challenging output and results driving daily meetings to ensure that Safety, Quality, Delivery and Performance metrics are met and that effective counter measures are implemented where failure or potential for failure is identified
  • You are fully responsible for the effective implementation of the cycle count process across the site either perpetual and or wall to wall counting and shall ensure that the site inventory accuracy metrics are met and shall lead cross functional teams to achieve this
  • You will drive your site supervisors to lead a culture of continuous improvement, who shall be key instigators and leads for CIP activities
  • The Warehouse Manager will be required to ensure all personnel & EHS activities are met and that all corrective and preventative actions and issue resolutions are effective and implemented within required time frames
  • You are responsible for all aspects of security within the warehousing framework ensuring that required standards are adhered to and that all security accreditations are maintained
  • You are responsible for compliance with all national and international legislation for the safe transport of materials and for the daily management of the inter-site transport vehicle and associated DOT vehicle safety inspections
  • You are responsible for the maintenance of the inter-site vehicles DOT Operators licence and EU driver hours compliance
  • Constantly question current practices identifying improvement opportunities and implementing process changes with management and Business Excellence support
  • To comply with and support the Health, Safety and Environment statements, policies and procedures as well as ensuring that all H&S audits are carried out accordingly as well as annual assessments. To investigate any EHS incident raised within the area to drive to a Zero Harm culture
  • Own Warehouse security and ensure compliance with known consigner and AEO requirements carrying out annual audits in preparation for formal audit

Key skills and experience required for Warehouse Operations Manager role and not limited to:

  • Extensive management experience of warehousing environment, manual and semi-automated processes. Zero defect culture. Focus on meeting Quality, Delivery & Cost requirements
  • Requires proven experience of warehousing/inventory management in a GMP environment
  • Effective in one to one and group communications ensuring that messages related to Quality, Performance and EHS activities are fully understood and followed
  • Bring knowledge of alternative approaches, identifies best practice through previous experience and benchmarking to a warehousing/manufacturing environment to enable change in processes (need to validate changes) and to drive the utilisation & efficiency of the group to reduce costs and improve quality
  • Qualification as Dangerous Goods Safety Advisor is advantageous
  • Ability to work in fast pace environment while retaining strong attention to detail and decision making
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and spoken
