A large-scale technical manufacturing business is currently recruiting for an Estimator to join their Supply Chain team in Greenford due to further growth and expansion of the business.

Proven experience as an Estimator OR similar estimating role within the manufacturing sector.

The Job

A large-scale technical manufacturing business is currently recruiting for an Estimator to join their Supply Chain team in Greenford due to further growth and expansion of the business.

The Estimator will be responsible to create and maintain product costing and (UPC) unit production cost for the sales bids team. To generate and maintain detailed costing sheets showing labour, material and overhead costs for products and projects as requested by sales. Projects can range anywhere from £2K to £15M.

Ideal applicants will need to have experience an Estimator or similar estimating role, must be familiar with electronics and/or mechanical products within a manufacturing environment.

Salary - £25,000 - £33,000 + Benefits

Location - Greenford, Middlesex

Key responsibilities for Estimator / Electronics Estimator / Mechanical Estimator and will not limited to:

  • Liaise between Engineering, Project Management, Production and the Supply Chain to obtain accurate costs for the Cost & Pricing and UPC spreadsheets
  • Create and maintain accurate costing sheets for the sales bid process
  • Update UPC spreadsheets to reflect variances in costs and report the changes to the business
  • Manage the estimating process in line with the relevant procedures, work instructions, other Company procedures and processes; to ensure the most accurate information possible
  • Direct engagement with suppliers to obtain quotes as directed by Purchasing ensuring adherence to agreed terms & conditions
  • Respond to queries and quotation responses instigated by Purchasing in order to clarify the UPC spreadsheet.
  • Challenge quotations submitted by suppliers in conjunction with Purchasing to achieve best possible prices and delivery times
  • Utilise Make v. Buy analysis with internal stakeholders to arrive at the best possible solution for the business and the customer
  • Responsible for signing off the cost elements prior a sales bid being submitted to a customer.
  • Review estimates completed by other stakeholders to ensure that they are accurate and produced in accordance with Company procedures and processes
  • Develop a standardised estimating/costing and pricing processes across the business unit
  • Report monthly estimating KPIs to Head of Supply Chain to measure the performance of estimating

Key skills and experience required for Estimator / Electronics Estimator / Mechanical Estimator job applicant:

  • Significant experience of cost estimating; ideally in an electronic and/or mechanical project based manufacturing environment
  • Experience in creating supplier quotations and negotiating prices / lead times
  • Experience in preparing financial breakdown of products; materials, labour, overheads, testing, additional charges etc
  • Strong numerical analytical skills
  • Intermediate / Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
