Our client, a renowned entity within the Defence & Security sector, is currently seeking a highly organised Material Controller specialising in Material Management to join their team in Barrow. This role is within the Submarines business unit and is fully on-site. This is a six-month contract position with the potential for extension, originally intended for maternity cover. Security clearance at SC level is required.

Key Responsibilities:

• Planning manufacturing schedules efficiently
• Overseeing material movement from suppliers to ensure timely delivery
• Generating and analysing reports to enhance operational performance
• Liaising effectively with suppliers to manage materials
• Chasing materials to ensure compliance with production timelines
• Coordinating logistics operations
• Troubleshooting and resolving issues promptly to maintain workflow continuity
• Performing problem-solving tasks that arise during production and material handling

Job Requirements:

• Experience in stores, materials, and stock control
• Proficiency as a Materials Controller & Planner
• Strong understanding of materials management within the defence industry
• Excellent organisational and scheduling skills
• Solid communication and liaison abilities, particularly with suppliers and logistics teams
• Problem-solving aptitude to address and mitigate production challenges
