Job description

The Head of Supply Chain oversees logistics operations, ensuring the seamless management of the supply chain from sourcing goods to final customer delivery. This role is pivotal in enhancing logistics efficiency, overseeing transportation, and collaborating with suppliers and customers to uphold product quality and meet delivery deadlines.

Role - Head of Supply Chain - FMCG (Food)

Location - London

Type - Permanent

Salary - £80,000-£100,000 + bonus + benefits

Key responsibilities of the Head of Supply Chain / Head of Supply Chain - FMCG (Food) role will include not be limited to:

• Strategic Planning - Develop and implement logistics strategies that support the company's goals, focusing on cost reduction, efficiency, sustainability, and excellent customer service.
• Transport Management - Oversee all transport operations, maintain strong relationships with freight carriers, and ensure timely, cost-effective deliveries.
• Warehouse Operations - Manage warehouse processes to ensure efficient storage, inventory control, and distribution, ensuring products are handled and stored correctly.
• Supply Chain Coordination - Work closely with Trade, Finance, and Quality teams to align logistics with sourcing and demand planning, ensuring smooth operations.
• Customer Service - Implement high-quality service standards and collaborate with the trade team to explore new ways of engaging with customers and growing the business.
• Quality Assurance - Ensure all logistics activities comply with safety and quality regulations, maintaining product integrity throughout transportation and storage.
• Inventory Management - Maintain optimal stock levels, using just-in-time practices to balance availability with demand while avoiding excess stock.
• Cost Management - Identify opportunities to reduce costs and improve efficiency while maintaining high operational standards.
• Risk Management - Identify potential risks, such as supply chain disruptions or compliance issues, and implement strategies to mitigate them.
• Team Leadership - Lead and support the logistics team, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Key skills and experience required for Head of Supply Chain / Head of Supply Chain - FMCG (Food) and not limited to:

• Proven track record in a similar Senior Supply Chain Management / Logistics oriented role, ideally FMCG sector background is preferred
• Strong understanding of freight and warehousing
• Experience with managing teams and ability to work with multilevel stakeholders
• Demonstrated ability with solving complex problems using collaborative techniques.
• Excellent communication skills (verbal, written and presentation).
• Strong Computer Skills: Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint.
