Job description

Our client, a reputable public sector organisation, is seeking a dedicated Management Accountant with a strong background in finance and accounts. This contract role supports the Finance Business Partner and cost centre managers in delivering critical financial management services. It offers the flexibility of being a hybrid role, 3 days onsite.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Co-ordinating the quarterly Revenue and Capital Budget Monitoring report.
  • Providing accurate and timely budgetary control information to budget holders.
  • Supporting financial management by preparing estimates, closing tasks, and offering ad hoc financial advice.
  • Ensuring compliance with financial procedures and reporting instances of non-compliance.
  • Monitoring and reconciling financial data to maintain accuracy and integrity.
  • Offering advice and guidance on the use of financial systems to support financial management within the organisation.
  • Working efficiently with both internal and external auditors as required.
  • Assisting the Finance Business Partner and Head of Finance with additional tasks as needed.

Job Requirements:

  • Qualified with the Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT) or comparable relevant experience.
  • Continuous professional development evidence.
  • Proficiency in local government finance.
  • Experience in key financial processes such as budget setting, monitoring, and closing accounts.
  • Understanding of and compliance with standards of financial control.
  • Ability to provide clear advice and data for reports.
  • Competent use of financial functions and Microsoft packages such as Word and Excel.
  • Experience in extracting and manipulating complex financial information to demonstrate trends.
