Job description
A leading manufacturing engineering business require a Buyer to support direct procurement activity for manufacturing. Applicants should be out-going, self-motivated professionals with a background in procurement as a Buyer.
The Buyer will join a large and supportive procurement team enjoying a period of growth. Procurement activity will focus on direct commodity areas for manufacturing. The environment is fast-paced and dynamic, so the Buyer will collaborate closely with the supply chain to ensure continuity of supply to achieve production schedules.
Specific duties of the Buyer, will include:
- Review, confirm availability and process purchase requisitions
- Liaison with internal departments to drive through any QCD and planning requirements
- End-to-end supplier order book management
- Supplier Relationship Management and development activities around OTD/OTIF metrics/KPIs
- Maintain procurement department data within MRP and MS Excel (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP, Formulas)
- Escalate and expedite material shortage issues
- Identify and qualify new suppliers for Ad-hoc requirements
- Drive productivity opportunities with supply base to deliver cost out goals
Buyer applicants should meet the following criteria:
- Purchasing/procurement experience as a Junior Buyer, Buyer or Senior Buyer
- Analytically minded with experience in the use of MS Excel spreadsheets (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP, Formulas) and/or an MRP system
- Accustomed to producing reports and KPIs for stakeholders
- Liaison with stakeholders - senior and operational
- Enthusiastic, adaptable and motivated team players
- Time management skills and he ability to manage competing demands
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced manufacturing setting
