Job description
A global leading business are currently recruiting for a Senior / Legal Counsel on a fulltime permanent contract based in Merthyr Tydfil (1 day onsite per week).
The Senior / Legal Counsel will be responsible to work across a range of stakeholders to handle an array of legal and compliance matters in support of all aspects of the business. Work closely with senior leaders and departments throughout the company. As a member of the broader General global legal team, to support execution of the company's global business strategy.
The successful candidate will have outstanding legal skills and an ability to manage a broad portfolio.
Role - Legal Counsel / Senior Legal Counsel
Salary - Competitive (DOE) + bonus + benefits
Type - Permanent, fulltime contract
Location - Merthyr Tydfil (hybrid working, 1 day onsite per week)
Key responsibilities for the Legal Counsel / Senior Legal Counsel role includes and not limited to:
- Provide overall legal support for UK operations in a timely manner, including in the following areas:
- Commercial/Contracts (including supply chain)
- Employment law
- Commercial Property/Real estate
- Regulatory law (e.g., cyber, privacy, etc.)
- Competitive tendering
- Manage portfolio of employee-related matters, liaising closely with the Human Resources department and external legal counsel
- Manage commercial disputes and litigation, working closely with relevant departments and external legal counsel
- Coordinate closely with the Global Legal Team
- Support the group compliance programs, particularly the Anti-bribery and Anti-corruption program
- Administer local Anti-Bribery and Anti-Corruption policies and procedures
- Support the Global Ethics program by serving as local ethics officer
- Capability to manage workload independently with minimal supervision
Key requirements for the Legal Counsel / Senior Legal Counsel role includes:
- Eligibility to gain UK security clearance at SC level
- Law degree and post-graduate legal degree
- Current Practicing Certificate for England and Wales
- Demonstrated ability to recognise and resolve legal issues and manage attendant risk
- Possess excellent written and oral communication skills
- Must have ability to plan, multi-task, organise and control heavy work volume
- In-house experience preferred
