Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and qualified Above Water Warfare (AWW) and Above Water Tactical (AWT) Specialist to join our dynamic team in Fareham. As part of a leading defence provider, you will leverage your experience in AWT or AWW to support cutting-edge synthetic training programs, preparing the next generation of Navy professionals for real-world challenges.

The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality training, guiding and mentoring trainees, and ensuring operational excellence across all technical areas. This role is pivotal in maintaining the readiness and proficiency of trainees in both simulated and live operational scenarios.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver and support AWW and AWT training courses, including gun controller and missile director operations.
  • Provide expert instruction on SCGC-qualified systems (Ship's Combat Guidance Course), ensuring trainees are operationally proficient in both simulated and live environments.
  • Offer leadership and mentorship to trainees, focusing on development at the Able Seaman and Leading Hand levels.
  • Operate and maintain training systems to ensure operational readiness for training exercises.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety, operational, and procedural standards.
  • Contribute to the ongoing development and improvement of training materials and programs to meet evolving defence requirements.

Qualifications and Skills

Required:

  • Strong background in AWW or AWT operations, particularly in training environments.
  • Proven leadership experience at Leading Hand, Petty Officer (PO), or Chief Petty Officer (CPO) levels. Qualified Able Seamen will also be considered if they possess the relevant qualifications.
  • Professional approach to delivering training and mentoring junior personnel.

Desired:

  • SCGC Qualification (Ship's Combat Guidance Course)
  • MEND Qualification (Maritime Engagement and Naval Defence)
  • Gun Controller CO2 Certification
  • Missile Director certification or equivalent experience.
  • Experience with GSA 8 or 9 responsibilities.
