Job description
This permanent role is essential in developing and leading a new corporate category team for Professional Services, including HR, Finance, Marketing, and ICT. This is a strategic position vital in steering the direction of the organisation's procurement policies and ensuring compliance with public sector contracts.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and lead a new corporate category team for Professional Services, including HR, Finance, Marketing, and IT
- Implement a category-led approach, transitioning current routes to market for efficiency and effectiveness
- Foster close relationships with the market to understand supplier capabilities and innovative contract delivery options
- Develop a comprehensive commercial category strategy and policy, ensuring alignment with current legislation
- Manage and mentor a team of approximately four direct reports, ensuring alignment with other category teams
- Conduct regular business and market analysis to inform future category plans
- Develop and implement new KPIs for contract management in line with Government Commercial Framework
- Represent the organisation in all aspects of public sector procurement and associated commercial issues
Job Requirements:
- Experience in strategic procurement project and programme management within the public sector
- Fully qualified CIPS (Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply) or equivalent experience
- Understanding of Public Procurement Regulations (2015 and 2023)
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire, motivate, and develop a high-performing team
- Proficiency in mentoring and developing team members
- Experience in defining and leading commercial policy, procedures, and processes
- Excellent analytical and decision-making skills with the ability to develop new processes and techniques
- Strong communication and negotiation skills to influence and drive stakeholder engagement
