Job description

We are seeking an experienced Area Sales Manager to lead and mentor a team of Technical Sales Engineers across the South of the UK. This role offers a blend of home-based work, field visits, and office meetings (South Wales). You'll manage a team of 4-5 direct reports, working closely with them on a day-to-day basis to drive sales growth, particularly in challenging and technical projects.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leadership & Mentoring: Support and guide your team to improve productivity, focusing on proactive rather than reactive sales approaches.
  • Strategic Sales Management: Develop and implement sales strategies to grow revenue, expand client accounts, and address areas where business has been lost.
  • Project Involvement: Assist with more complex technical projects, taking a lead role where necessary, and ensure alignment with the company's innovation and technical superiority.
  • Client Relationships: Manage and nurture relationships with major clients in the wastewater sector, focusing on long-term growth and repeat business.

About You:
You are a seasoned sales manager with a strong background in technical sales, ideally within water treatment or a related industry. You excel in leading and mentoring teams, driving sales performance, and managing key accounts. A degree is advantageous, but your practical experience in sales management, especially in a technical context, is key.

  • Experience: Proven sales management experience, with a track record of mentoring and developing high-performing teams.
  • Industry Knowledge: Familiarity with water treatment or related technical sectors (e.g., chemical, mechanical, civil) is preferred.
  • Skills: Strong commercial acumen, excellent communication and negotiation abilities, and the ability to develop strategic sales plans.
  • Flexibility: Willingness to travel across the South of the UK to support your team and manage client relationships.
