Job description
Actively seeking an experienced Buyer to join a leading Defence company based in Yeovil. This role will play a crucial part of the Category Management team, contributing to purchasing activities and executing the Procure-to-Pay process within a designated geographical area based from Yeovil and across the EU.
This unique Buyer opportunity will be supporting this well known Defence organisation on a 12 month contract at their base in Yeovil, with an immediate start on a hybrid working model.
Responsibilities
- Purchase Requisition Processing: Handle all Purchase Requisitions (PRs) promptly, seeking support from Commodity Specialists for sourcing and contracting when necessary.
- Purchase Orders: Prepare and issue Purchase Orders (POs) for requests from internal clients in Operations, Customer Support & Service (CS&S), and other functions.
- Transactional Issue Management: Resolve issues related to PO execution, including quality notifications, export paperwork, critical delivery escalations, and lead time management.
- Internal Collaboration: Work with internal departments (Operations, CS&S, Finance, etc.) to manage PR processing and PO management.
- Performance KPIs: Contribute to achieving throughput and operational performance KPIs, delivering high service levels to internal clients.
- Spot Buy Execution: Within delegated limits and pre-selected suppliers, manage the entire spot buy process, including RFQ, negotiation, and supplier selection, in alignment with the Purchasing Coordinator/Category Manager.
Experience:
- CIPS qualified
- Background in Defence, Aerospace, engineering or relevant experience.
