Job description
My clients who are a leading defence company is recruiting for a Commercial Manager to join on a permanent basis in Hastings (hybrid working arrangements).
The Commercial Manager will be responsible to provide commercial leadership, support and guidance to the business on a wide range of contractual and commercial matters relating to the full contract life cycle from bid preparation/submission through project execution to contract completion/closure.
Leading a team of commercial professionals, the role is varied and will involve hands-on commercial management of several contracts/programmes as well as a broader overarching responsibility across the business portfolio.
Role - Commercial Manager
Location - Hastings (flexibility around hybrid working arrangements)
Type - Permanent
Salary - £65,000-£75,000 + bonus + benefits
Key responsibilities of the Commercial Manager role will include not be limited to:
- Provide the day-to-day point of interface on commercial and contractual matters for selected contracts
- Provide full commercial input to the timely development, approval of bids and proposals
- Identification of commercial risk and the development and implementation of effective risk mitigation strategies and actions
- Ensure that the Company's contractual obligations are communicated to the project teams and support functions
- Ensure resolution of commercial issues
- Support the project teams to identify contract changes and manage the commercial side of the Change Control process
- Supporting the project procurement team in the negotiation of contractual agreements with suppliers and subcontractors
- Lead in the negotiation of any amendments to our existing contracts and new agreements
- Reviewing, re-drafting and leading the negotiation of customer contracts and agreements.
- Ensure the protection/registration of the company's intellectual property rights
- Provide support to new business proposals
- Help develop, improve and maintain Commercial policies and processes
Key skills and experience required for Commercial Manager and not limited to:
- Eligibility to gain UK Security Clearance (SC Level)
- Previous experience in reviewing complex contractual documents
- Recognition of contract law
- Previous experience in a customer interface role
- Well organised and confident individual able to take the lead on business issues
- Strong Commercial awareness and business acumen with attention to detail whilst meeting challenging deadlines
- Can demonstrate the ability to identify key areas in contract terms supplied by other parties that if accepted would represent a significant risk to the Company
- Can think laterally to resolve issues and disputes
- Can demonstrate the ability to effectively liaise with internal and external customers and stakeholders
- Self-motivated and proactively able to manage own work to in order to achieve objectives
- Ability to identify and develop solutions to problems
