Job description
Successful manufacturer require a Senior Buyer. Applicants should have experience within technical manufacturing or engineering business and have some strategic ability - negotiation, supplier management, contract management etc.
The Senior Buyer will join a team of Buyers and Junior Buyers reporting into a Procurement Manager. The Senior Buyer will take responsibility for strategic procurement tasks - supplier selection, risk mitigation, negotiation and contribute to cost saving targets.
Specific duties of the Senior Buyer include:
- Running procurement and sourcing exercises, cradle-to-grave management of tenders
- Supplier performance, supplier improvement and supplier auditing activities
- Monitor stock/inventory levels
- Spot negotiation, with some T&C agreements etc.
- Stakeholder management - reflect business needs in the supply chain
Senior Buyer applicants should meet the following criteria:
- Purchasing, Procurement expertise or previous experience as a Buyer, Senior Buyer or Strategic Buyer
- An understanding of how MRP supports procurement within manufacturing
- Experience working within a technical manufacturing or engineering background
- The ability to manage suppliers, negotiate and improve performance
- Demonstration of continuous professional development - CIPS, Degree, similar - desirable
