Job description

Following a recent period of growth, an opportunity has arisen for a Buyer to join a growing procurement team at this fast-paced & dynamic manufacturing business. The role would suit someone with experience in a procurement role in a manufacturing environment.

The role will be office based, Monday - Friday, and there will be an expectation of travel visiting suppliers where necessary.

The organisation is committed to learning and development and the successful candidate will have the opportunity to study CIPS qualifications if required.

The main roles and responsibilities are to:

  • Manage and maintain supplier relationships.
  • Evaluating MRP demand, raising, amending, and monitoring purchase orders
  • Processing purchase requisitions, raising and issuing purchase orders as required.
  • Assist procurement team with expediting purchase orders, updating spreadsheets and MRP system accordingly.
  • Work with suppliers to reduce lead times.
  • Assist the organisation in identifying potential cost savings.
  • General administration support.
  • Actively communicate with suppliers to request order confirmations and update on the MRP system.
  • Manage and resolve invoice queries working closely with the accounts team.
  • Update various key data such as Supplier Matrix & Cost increases and decreases and communicate this to key stakeholders.
  • Update trade agreements and lead times on MRP system

Required Skills & Experience

  • Experience in a Procurement or Administration role in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong IT and Excel skills.
  • Well organised and proactive.
  • Good communication and negotiation skills when dealing with suppliers and colleagues.
  • Good teamwork ethic and positive attitude.
  • Ability to work well under pressure
