Global engineering business require a Senior (Technical) Buyer. Applicants need experience as an Engineering Buyer or Technical Buyer and have some previous management/supervisory experience.
The Senior Technical Buyer will function as a Procurement Operations Lead - driving a team of Buyers responsible for raising/processing POs across direct and indirect spend areas. The business engineers/manufactures technical products and applications across a range of industries, hence the need for a appreciation of engineering suppliers, products and stakeholders.
Specific duties of the Senior (Technical) Buyer / Procurement Operations Lead include:
- Manage resources and delegate workload of Operational Buyers
- Ensure tenders/sourcing is conducted compliantly while meeting ESGs
- Interface with Procurement Category Managers and Project teams - understand how activities feed into their strategies
- Capture supplier performance data and report to help drive improvements
- Support maintenance of accurate contract management database
- Stakeholder engagement - Finance, Engineering etc,
- Procurement representative on ERP upgrade project
Senior (Technical) Buyer / Procurement Operations Lead applicants should meet the following criteria:
- Procurement experience, as a Senior Buyer, Engineering Buyer, Technical Buyer or similar
- Experience of managing a team, or supervising a team
- Exposure to a technical industry - manufacturing, engineering, aerospace, automotive, defence etc.
- Good with systems - MRP/ERP, e-sourcing tools etc.
- Comfortable with hybrid working
