The Job

My clients who are a multi-national Defence business are currently recruiting for a Trade Compliance Coordinator (Import/Export) based in Bristol (hybrid working, on average the team is going in 1-2 days per week) on a permanent full-time basis.

The Trade Compliance Coordinator will be responsible to enable the import and export of products globally (into and from EU and Rest of World) through the required logistics, shipping, customs processes, compliance requirements and UK import/export rules.

Providing support to the Trade Compliance team for all aspects of the Trade Compliance requirements, this role would be suited to someone who has either worked in a Logistics, Shipping, Import/Export or Customs role and keen to get into a Trade Compliance position.

Location - Bristol (hybrid working, lots of flexibility to WFH)

Salary - £20,000 - £35,000 (DOE) + benefits

Key responsibilities of the Trade Compliance Coordinator / Trade Compliance Administrator role and not be limited to:

  • Manage the day-to-day import / export of goods requirements by processing Shipments, collating relevant paperwork and liaising with Freight Forwarders
  • Manage the day-to-day import / export requirements of controlled data transfers, recording the transfers and processing the relevant paperwork
  • Supporting the Trade Compliance Officers with various export programmes to understand their export licensing and custom requirements
  • Working with Engineering to help assign commodity codes, determine UKML codes
  • Working with Stores in Supply Chain to ensure all deliverables are picked and packed appropriately to support the shipping, customs and licencing constraints
  • Working with commercial and supply chain to obtain and register product classification of all incoming goods (e.g., commodity codes, UKML or Dual Use Codes etc.)
  • Accurately maintain all records relating to articles being imported, received and shipped to final destination
  • Supporting Corporate/Internal/External Audits and closure actions where appropriate.
  • Any additional tasks to ensure the success of the role and support to the Business Unit

Key skills and experience required for Trade Compliance Coordinator / Trade Compliance Administrator role and not limited to:

  • Proven experience in either a Logistics, Shipping, Import/Export, Customs or Trade Compliance role
  • Good communication skills both written and oral
  • Must be eligible to gain UK Security (SC) clearance
