Introduction

My client, an engineering solutions provider is seeking a Purchasing /Procurement Assistant to support the team. They are paying between £22-30k depending on experience. The role is office based and includes 21 days holiday + bank holidays.

The Job

Purchasing /Procurement Assistant will help maintain the companies supply levels for site and negotiate deals with potential suppliers.

The Purchasing / Procurement Assistant will be responsible for learning company purchasing policies and procedures, and maintaining supply levels required for effective company operation.

The successful candidate will also be charged with conducting regular price comparisons to ensure that the company is always getting the best price for each product that is purchased.


Before placing an order, the Purchasing / Procurement Assistant carefully checks purchase orders for accuracy, completeness and clarity.

The Purchasing / Procurement Assistant must verify that product information, shipping information, cost and delivery dates are all correct before obtaining authorisation to place an order.

Responsibilities and Duties:
 Maintain strong working relationships with our suppliers
 Review purchasing agreements with suppliers and maintain open lines of communications with those suppliers
 Stay up-to-date with industry trends and establish long-term purchasing arrangements with suppliers when it is beneficial to the company.
 Compare product deliveries with issued purchase orders and contact suppliers when there are discrepancies


Essential Skills:
 1- 2 years of procurement experience is preferred (Not essential)
 Strong emphasis on accuracy and detail
 Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously to meet goals and deadlines
 Proficient in Microsoft Office programs, such as Excel
 Good time management and organisational skills
 Basic mathematical knowledge
 Excellent communication and negotiation skills
