Introduction: A leading global valve/actuator manufacturer are looking for an Area Sales Manager to develop business with clients across the South East predominately in the Chemical and Pharmaceutical market, 80% existing business, selling to Distributors.
The Job:
This role will be selling through distributors predominately and direct to customers, predominately in the chemical, and pharmaceutical sector, some Food, and Power. Covering the Midlands, option for Office of home base.

Create a sales strategy for assigned area in order to achieve order bookings against an annual sales plan
Sell company products profitably within guidelines laid down by the Company
-Investigate and exploit all potential sales opportunities for company products
-Create the necessary drive and enthusiasm in the stockist distributor organisations via regular contact, and help create -local sales initiatives
-Implement distributor training programmes in conjunction with Technical Support Team to ensure that distributor - personnel are trained to the required level
-Prepare package quotations against customer/distributor enquires
-Support internal sales for assigned customers in management of project orders and contracts
-Support the application team in bid preparation in consideration of customers specification and requirements
- Obtain and maintain a thorough knowledge of Company Sales policies and implement these policies with maximum efficiency
- Produce and maintain accurate records of all activities in accordance with Company report systems
-Report on market requirements and changes, which could affect Company products and policies, including competitors’ activities
-Follow up all quotes/enquiries within 7 days
-To act on all customer enquiries/complaints within 48 hours
Territory
· This job is based in Burgess Hill with time split between the office and work in the field with stockist/distributors and end users. Applicants should ideally live within commuting distance of Newark. However we will consider candidates who wish to be home based if a strong match to the specification
· There may also be responsibility for European countries.
80% distributor focus, 20% direct customers
Key Skills:
Field sales experience, or internal sales engineer with limited field sales experience, and a strong ambition to progress
- Distributor sales experience, understanding of how to sell through distributors, and develop successful relationships
- Technically astute- minimum HNC level, or equivalent hands on experience
- Target driven
