Important: Purchasing experience within a manufacturing / engineering environment

Introduction: A manufacturing / engineering organisation based in Bath are looking to recruit a Senior Buyer to work within their purchasing team. Ideally candidates will have purchasing experience of engineering control components.

The Job: The Senior Buyer will be responsible for ensuring that the supply chain is in place to support medium and long term purchasing plans and requirements. Specific responsibilities of the Buyer include:

1. To ensure that suppliers are meeting the agreed KPIs and targets.
2. To manage and co-ordinate new product development and engineering change within the supply base.
3. To aid the selection of new suppliers through discussions with engineering and quality departments.
4. To ensure supplier’s tooling is in place to meet the current and future requirements a
5. To manage projects leading to component cost reductions.
6. Negotiate new agreements with suppliers
7. To support the Quality function in supplier development and to act as the commercial contact when quality issues arise.

Prospective Buyers should meet the following criteria:

1. A background in a manufacturing / engineering environment with experience in Purchasing.
2. Ideally educated to degree level or CIPs qualified.
3. Experience of working with overseas suppliers in the Far East.
4. Previous experience purchasing engineering control components would be an advantage
