Job description

The Role

The role is responsible for supporting the Cost Estimating team.

As a Cost Estimator, you will be part of the Commercial Estimating function working closely with all areas of the business, across a broad spectrum of tasks, from facility business cases to design studies to whole boat pricing that will give you an excellent understanding of the business unit and how it operates. Your primary involvement will be to support the business through the creation of cost and price estimates, in relation to the management of existing contracts and the capture of new business, through the supply of critical data and analysis in support of key business decision. Using the processes and tools to support the operational capability including governance and assurance activities.

Core Duties:

Not limited to...

  • Generate and populate cost models by collating and analysing data from multiple sources (e.g. actual costs, national statistics or contracted rates) to support the business needs in areas of responsibility, including undertaking supplier price investigations. All models to be supported by Basis of Estimates (BOE) and Validated and Verified (V & V).

  • Understanding the impact of inflation and price variation mechanisms on contract prices.

  • Provide cost engineering guidance, at an appropriate level, to other departments and functions.

  • Develop and maintain customer relationships both internal and external.

  • Work as a team member providing labour and material estimates and advice to all functions for project monitoring and the support of business activities, using appropriate work breakdown structures and to enable reconciliation with the contract price. All models to be supported by Basis of Estimates (BOE) and Validated and Verified (V & V).

  • Deploy cost estimating end to end processes and understand how the processes as set out on QMS, interact with the role.

Qualifications:

  • Educated to National Certificate level or equivalent in a technical/operational skill set, or with appropriate relevant experience.

  • Skilled in use of Microsoft Packages

Security Requirements: SC

This role will require the person to hold full Security Clearance (SC) prior to working onsite. You will need to obtain a BPSS check as part of this process. You must currently hold or be eligible and willing to obtain SC and you must be eligible to work in the UK without sponsorship and have lived and worked in the UK for a minimum 5 year period. This role is for UK EYES ONLY

The Umbrella rate quoted above is the Gross Umbrella rate (i.e. the rate we pay to the Umbrella Company inclusive of ALL employment costs). Please note, the rate paid by the Umbrella will be less, as will a Limited Deemed rate or Agency PAYE rate. Please get in touch to discuss the rates via these different payment vehicles.
