Introduction:

Barclay Meade are working with a business that operate in the Automotive sector who are seeking a Technical Business Manager with excellent Commercial and Business Development skills in the Electronics & Software areas.

The Job:

This is a position that can be based either in the West Midlands or Cambridgeshire areas and will be primarily responsible for leading Electronics and Software business development, proposal and project delivery activities

The position is considered a key role within the organisation and will give the successful candidate the ability to help shape and mould the clients worked with as well as the portfolio offering of the business in the medium to long-term.

Your everyday tasks will include the provision of:
- Technical and commercial leadership in developing new business opportunities
- Compelling project proposals that demonstrate superior value to customers
- Outstanding project delivery

You will be comfortable in meeting new customers and developing relationships, working closely with the In-house engineering delivery and commercial teams to meet the needs of the clients.

Key responsibilities of the role:
- To understand the client's business, including their organization, financial decision-making process and business challenges to create and sell solutions that respond to the client's value drivers.
- Understand client's industry, including industry trends, financial measurements, key players and competitors, to develop and sell solutions that address client needs.
- Defining new business streams for Electronics & Software division, developing associated selling strategies and supporting material through collaboration with the global team, other product groups, market sectors, commercial and engineering teams to develop and sell a portfolio of high value solutions
- Provide technical lead in developing business opportunities with relevant material and preparing proposals in response to Request For Quotations
- Direct responsibility for the development of proposals (documentation, plans, costing, commercial package) for global customers through to order conversion including successful contract negotiations
- Technical leadership of assigned Electronics & Software projects by: Defining technical resource requirements for successful project execution, Maximizing team performance using standard processes, Leading technical reviews, Assessing cost/benefit trade-off of technical solution and leads decision making process, Primary technical interface with client.
- Support development of the company's technology strategy and product offerings for business

Candidate profile:
- Ideally you will be a degree qualified, proficient in electronic product development processes including:
- Embedded software & high-integrity systems including functional safety
- Vehicle communication
- Automotive development processes
- Candidates from a consultancy, OEM or Tier1 background would be ideal but all suitable experiences and backgrounds will be considered.
- You will be seeking a move into a challenging environment that will broaden your proven ability and reward you with increased levels of responsibility and ownership.

Skills requirements:
- Proven skill in defining and preparing winning proposals, with the ability to develop strong, long-lasting customer relationships at senior level and profitable revenue streams
- Credibility in a wide range of customer situations
- Strong leadership and ability to coordinate and lead multi-disciplined teams
- Able to work in a matrix organisation and can liaise effectively across business units to drive greater business value
- Strong project management skills
- Proven interpersonal and communication skills at all levels
- High degree of flexibility and willingness to travel
- Robust character with a strong drive and motivation to succeed
- Pragmatism in dealing with client and team situations coupled with an ability to accept and positively respond to frequent changes
- An ability to work under pressure and very tight timescales
- Being a benchmark for upholding Company values
