Introduction:

We are currently recruiting for a Head of Field Sales to work within a leading Contract Research Organisation (CRO) based in Cambridgeshire. Leading the European field Sales team.

The Job:

You will lead the European field sales team focussed on delivering sales and performance targets from our mid-cap and biotech customer sectors. The role will achieve this through effective people management and development (including coaching, group training and implementing effective performance management) and through successful and efficient use of sales systems, processes and metrics.

• To recruit, manage and develop a team of focussed Sales Managers to ensure individual, departmental and company performance targets are met and where possible exceeded. The role will be responsible for recruitment and selection in conjunction with HR, identifying and agreeing performance objectives, conducting regular and timely appraisals and managing performance issues appropriately.
• To support the integration and implementation of the sales strategy. Work closely with the Head of European Pharmaceutical sales, Group Director, Account Team Manager to develop the overall Pharmaceutical sales strategy and strategic plans. To integrate the Field Sales Team involvement into the European Sales Team, ensure targets are set and cascaded; define and agree core sales activity to maximise all selling opportunities.
• To define and implement a development strategy for the team and the individuals within it. Individual goals will be driven through the setting of personal objectives and Personal Development Plans (PDP). This will involve conducting coaching visits and classroom training to ensure that the team have the right competencies, business and technical skills.
• To work with the team to devise and implement individual business plans which to support the delivery of the sales strategy. The plans will increase the visibility of the company to increase business by; selling into additional product lines; gaining market share. Plans are to be regularly monitored. Assessing activity (metrics) versus plan to be reviewed and new objectives to be developed as others are signed off and delivered.
• To ensure the active use of HUBS as the customer relationship management tool to be used within Sales. To work closely with others in the team to ensure that HuBS is fully used.
• To continue to drive the integration and use of metrics within the sales department. Utilising the metrics as a performance and development tool. This will include collating of data based on current metrics; using in 1-2-1’s to aid continuous development and identify and eradicate underlying performance issues.

Skills and experience required:
- Educated to degree in a Life Sciences subject
- Previous experience in a similar role
