Managing contracts, managing key clients
A leading engineering company are looking for a Contract/Internal Sales Engineer, managing the complete sales/bids process in their Nuclear/Defence division (Chemical Sales department)
Department: Chemical Sales (Nuclear/Defence Team)
Location- Haywards Heath, 40 minutes train from Victoria Station-London, the train station 2 minute walk from companies offices.
Reporting Line: Sales Manager
Organisational Responsibilities:
It is expected that the Contract Sales Engineer will work closely with other members of the Chemical Team to support the sales of the Chemical products in the UK & Global markets.
Job Purpose:
To ensure continued growth of the Company’s business through optimum service being given to customers and all sales personnel.
Principal Accountabilities & Duties
o To independently manage large contracts, review technically and make commercial proposals to meet the customer requirements.
o Take the lead role in arranging and running of Contract reviews at enquiry and / or order stage, ensuring all Technical, Quality Assurance and Purchasing matters are resolved.
o Deal with project type business, particularly those enquiries containing a high degree of technical and commercial content, and also defence related customers.
o To independently manage a range of process type enquiries and propose suitable technical and commercial solutions to the customers' requirements.
o To see that all customer requests for new delivery requirements and progress enquiries are passed to the manufacturing teams within 12 hours ensuring that information given to manufacturing and subsequently transmitted to the customer is accurate and adequate.
o Follow up selected quotations in conjunction with the Area Sales Managers (ASM) and record feedback on the enquiry log system.
o Ensure that all customer order documentation requirements are compiled within the required time-scales, including submission and progress of Letters of Credit.
o Ensure that products are sold profitably as determined by the business.
o Ensure response to enquiries, orders and all other activities are according to identified time-scales.
o Ensure that customer complaints are acknowledged within 12 hours and that necessary remedial action is taken within the Company.
o Liaise with all departments in the Company, customers and distributors.
o To develop and maintain knowledge and work within Company policies, practices, systems, procedures and product knowledge.
o Deal with Customer Visits to Haywards Heath / Teesside as required.
o Ensure all orders that result from a quotation conform in all aspects to the terms offered before processing / entering the order on to the system.
o Evaluate requests for returned goods and raising initial paperwork for action in accordance with the returned goods procedure.
o In conjunction with the relevant ASM, visit customers as required.
Person Requirements / Qualifications & Experience
Essential requirements:
o HNC or degree in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent)
o Previous experience of handling complex contracts
o Previous internal and/or external Sales experience, including project handling
o High level of sales awareness and commercial judgement
o The ability to communicate tactfully and clearly
o Computer literacy
o Commercially astute and an effective negotiator
o Ability to prioritise heavy and variable workload
o Professional attitude to all aspects of customer care
Preferred:
o Previous experience in oil & gas, nuclear, mod, defence, aerospace, rail or process sectors.
o Understands manufacturing computerised business systems and the demands of an ISO 9001 environment or similar
o Proven history of delivering complex technical contracts as per clients specification
o Competent with Microsoft project, word, excel
Benefits Package
The working week is 37.5 hours. Benefits include 25 days’ holiday, contributory money purchase pension scheme, life assurance cover and Health Cash plan. Salary will be up to around £35,000 per annum depending on skills and experience.
